California does not issue a statewide journeyman electrician license. The credential that gets you dispatched as an inside JW is the General Electrician Certification from the Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, Electrician Certification Unit. A completed DOL-registered IBEW apprenticeship (8,000 hours) is the usual proof of experience. Application plus exam is $175 ($75 administration, $100 exam).
