IBEW Local 429 is the Nashville hall, at 2001 Elm Hill Pike. On October 5, 2026, GoHereBro's scrape named three long calls: Newtron for 19 journeymen at Google in Clarksville, Miller Electrical for 2 journeymen at TVA Cumberland City, and Service Electric for 1 journeyman lineman in the 429 jurisdiction. The same local record stored 8 open positions. Those figures do not describe one tidy total, so use the live card and the hall phone before you treat any of them as tomorrow's referral.
Other Tennessee openings are on the job call map and the Hot Spots dashboard.
What the October 5 scrape named
The locked journeyman scale is $36.82, and health and welfare is $8.90. Both came off the wage sheet GoHereBro has on file, last updated June 26, 2026. The calls below were written at scale. Per diem is extra, and only on the terms the call printed.
| Call | Where and how it was written |
|---|---|
| Newtron, 19 journeymen | Google, Clarksville. 7-10s. $120 a day when the job is 50 miles out and all hours are worked. OSHA 10 and a background check. |
| Miller Electrical, 2 journeymen | TVA, Cumberland City. 5-10s plus an 8-hour day, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. OSHA 10, industrial experience, background check. |
| Service Electric, 1 journeyman lineman | Inside the 429 jurisdiction. 40 hours. $75 a day per diem. Class A CDL and a drug screen. |
Clarksville is northwest of Nashville, roughly an hour when I-24 is moving. Cumberland City is farther west, on the Cumberland River by the TVA steam plant, not a Nashville commute. The $120 day on the Google call is tied to distance and to working the hours. It is not a Nashville downtown per diem.
The member job site at the hall does not show open jobs to someone who is not already signed on a book. The October 5 lines above are GoHereBro's scrape of the hall's job page, not a promise the same names are still up.
Mount Juliet prefab, as of April 2026
The IBEW Electrical Worker, in a story dated April 1, 2026, reported that Modular Power Solutions, owned by Rosendin, had told Local 429 it needed about 400 electricians for a prefabrication plant in Mount Juliet. Business Manager Jeremy Butler is quoted in that story. Mount Juliet is east of the hall, on the other side of the airport from downtown. That article is not the October 5 call list. If you are chasing the prefab plant, ask the hall whether Rosendin is still adding journeymen or only apprentices and construction wiremen.
Hall hours
The local's own login-help page lists two phones, (615) 874-1253 and (615) 889-4429, at 2001 Elm Hill Pike, Nashville, TN 37210. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed 12:00 to 12:30 for lunch. Applications are taken from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Elm Hill Pike is southeast of downtown, near the airport, not on Broadway. A room in Clarksville or Cumberland City is a different trip from a room on Elm Hill. Match the bed to the report-to.
The generic travel letter and what happens to your home book when you take a call are in how to travel IBEW Book 2. Local 429's public pages do not spell out a Book 2 window the way some halls do. Call before you drive.
Tennessee license, in traveler terms
Tennessee does not issue a statewide journeyman electrician license. The Board for Licensing Contractors runs two different credentials.
The Limited Licensed Electrician license covers electrical work under $25,000, materials and labor included, and only where the local permit office accepts it. The application revised June 2025 lists Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Memphis among the jurisdictions that do not accept the state LLE. Nashville is on that list. An LLE does not answer a Metro Nashville inspector who wants a local card, and the Board says the LLE exam is not comparable to a journeyman or master exam.
LLE details on that same application: the exam is through PSI, you do not need preapproval or experience to sit it, there is no continuing education, the initial fee is $50, and the license expires two years later on the last day of the month it was issued. Renewal is $50. A license expired more than three months is an $80 reinstatement. There is no out-of-state exam waiver for the LLE. Phone numbers on the form: (615) 741-8307, (615) 253-2144, and (800) 544-7693. Email: [email protected]. Office: 500 James Robertson Parkway, Nashville, TN 37243-1150.
Work of $25,000 and up needs a contractor license with the CE electrical classification. That classification is accepted statewide for permits. It still does not skip local permit fees. The contractor license is a business credential: trade exam, Tennessee business and law exam, a CPA financial statement, insurance, and experience. A traveler on a signatory call is usually working under the contractor's CE license. Ask the call. Do not assume your home-state journeyman card is the paper Metro wants.
Tennessee's trade-exam waiver is for the contractor trade exam, not for the LLE. The waiver form names electrical classifications from Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, and West Virginia, among other contractor agreements, and it still requires the Tennessee business and law exam. The Board also accepts NASCLA commercial trade scores. That waiver cannot be used on a limited licensed electrician application.
The state-by-state pattern for personal journeyman licenses is the electrician license reciprocity guide. Tennessee is a different shape: the personal card, where one exists, is local, and the statewide card for larger work is the contractor's.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is IBEW Local 429?
2001 Elm Hill Pike, Nashville, TN 37210. Phones on the local's site: (615) 874-1253 and (615) 889-4429. Weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed 12:00 to 12:30.
Does Local 429 have work outside Nashville?
The October 5, 2026 scrape named Google in Clarksville and TVA in Cumberland City, plus one lineman call inside the jurisdiction. Clarksville and Cumberland City are not Nashville commutes.
What is the Local 429 journeyman scale?
$36.82, with health and welfare at $8.90, from the wage sheet updated June 26, 2026. The Clarksville call added $120 a day when the job is 50 miles out and the hours are worked.
Does Tennessee have a statewide journeyman license?
No. The state issues a Limited Licensed Electrician license for work under $25,000 where the local office accepts it, and a contractor license with a CE classification for work of $25,000 and up. Nashville is listed as a jurisdiction that does not accept the LLE.
Can I transfer my home-state journeyman license to Tennessee?
Not as a personal journeyman card. The LLE application says there is no out-of-state exam waiver. Contractor trade-exam waivers exist for some states and still require Tennessee's business and law exam. They do not cover the LLE.
How much is the Tennessee LLE?
$50 to start, $50 to renew, and $80 to reinstate a license that has been expired more than three months. The license runs two years.
Does the member website show Local 429 calls to a traveler who has not signed?
The hall's worker job page tells an unsigned visitor that jobs are displayed for books they have signed, and that none are listed if they are not on a book. Call the hall.
